Our favorite apps for making lawyer’s lives easier

Stay organized and avoid overwhelm with our favorite desktop and mobile apps–for you and your clients

What's Inside

What's Inside

Every lawyer is different, but almost all of them have one thing in common: they’re busy. From the professional responsibility of staying on top of all of your cases to the emotional weight of dealing with clients in difficult situations, we know you have a lot going on. To make things a bit easier, we’ve curated a list of our favorite apps for making your work life easier and maintaining your mental health–and we’ve included a few of our favorites for recommending to clients, too.

For you

Marble Attorney App

All co-counsels with Marble have free access to both our Marble Attorney Portal and the Marble Attorney App–and there’s parity between the two to ensure your experience is consistent. With the Marble Attorney App, you can see everything from your earnings (current, cumulative, and upcoming) to pending case offers to a full list of your clients–and their contact information–with click links to their Matter pages in Lawmatics, so you can input case updates in real-time, even from the on-the-go.

1Password

When you’re working on a case, keeping client’s files, documents and correspondence confidential is paramount, which means secure passwords are crucial. Password manager 1Password generates–and stores–secure passwords for all of your accounts, and its dual-key encryption makes it extremely secure. It’s one of those apps you didn’t know you needed, but won’t be able to live without once you have.

Dropbox

A classic for a reason, you may already be using Dropbox–but if you’re not, it’s time to get started. It’s one of the best ways to stay organized, especially when it comes to cases where there are multiple documents and files you need to keep track of (so, yes, all of them). You can organize clients, cases, or services into their own folders and sub-folders, and the platform’s incredible storage capacity means that almost no file is too big to store.

TimeSolv

If you work on a billable model, you know that properly tracking your time is crucial. TimeSolv is one of the apps lawyers who work this way love the most–it’s user-friendly and affordable, and offers much more than just time tracking, including billing and expense management–and their customer support is fantastic, too.

Asana

If you work with a team, staying on top of all of the moving parts during a case can be difficult. Asana makes project management easy–you can assign tasks and due dates to specific team members, share links to relevant assets and files, converse with team members by commenting on tasks and tag in others with the easy mention feature. It’s one of the most user-friendly ways we’ve found to stay organized when there’s a lot going on.

For your clients

FamCal

If you’re a family lawyer, it’s more than likely that you’ve dealt with a few divorces. For families with kids, staying on top of mutual schedules can be tough–and often causes friction. That’s why we love recommending FamCal, a shared family calendar app that can make shared custody arrangements feel easier. Features include color coding to make it clear which parent owns which event, task lists, notes, reminders and more.

Peanut

Peanut is the perfect app for everyone from a mom looking for a fresh start post-divorce to a family looking to find friends for their little ones in their new city.  Best described as an app for making mom friends, with Peanut, you can chat and meet up with moms in your area, or take advantage of the group communities, and connect with other women on everything from work and motherhood to early pregnancy.

Duolingo

Immigration clients with English language tests on the horizon will likely want as much practice as they can get if they don’t already speak the language. Duolingo gamifies the process of learning a new language, making it easy and enjoyable to brush up on your skills in just a few minutes a day.

UnitConverter

A less frequently-discussed frustration for many immigrants new to the United States: the imperial system. Most countries use the metric system, and making the move to imperial (which, to many, feels far less intuitive) can be a tough switch for many. UnitConverter is designed to do the hard work for you–and it also converts currency, to help put costs into perspective.

For you and your clients

Happy, Not Perfect

Ideal for anxious clients, busy lawyers, and beyond, Happy Not Perfect is a mindfulness app founded by Poppy Jamie, a former TV presenter who experienced such bad burnout she was forced to change the entire course of her career. Happy Not Perfect uses neuroscience-backed strategies to create mindfulness games, meditations, and more, designed to help reduce your stress and increase your peace in just a few minutes a day.

Octave

For the times when a meditation app might not be enough, Octave makes it easy to call on the professionals. It’s an online therapy platform that offers sessions with licensed therapists in seven states, and it’s designed to make therapy–which is often stigmatized as either financially out-of-reach or only necessary for those who are visibly struggling–accessible to all.

That’s all for now! We hope these apps help you and your clients move through your days with a bit less stress and more ease. If you’ve been using and loving any of these apps, let us know by reaching out on social media @marblelaw.
